Elder Selection

The following men have been nominated as elders of First Church. They represent the best interest of the church and possess the qualifications listed in: 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4 and Acts 20:28-31. Elders serve three-year terms and provide shepherding and leadership for the church. If you have any reason why any of these men don’t possess the biblical qualities necessary for eldership, please submit it in writing to Executive Minister, Matt Thomason, or a current elder by July 26.

JERRY BARNHAM

Jerry and Tara Barnham have been married for 38 years. They are parents to son, Skyler (passed in 2015) and daughter & son-in-law, Dakoda & Meghan Goins. They are grandparents to Grady, Cooper, and Olivia. Jerry is employed as Manager of Engineering at Hughes-Anderson Heat Exchanger and has worked there for 32 years. He became a partner/member of First Church in 1993 and has served as a past Elder, a small group leader, a sound tech, part of the lawn maintenance team, and will jump in wherever there is a need.

LES CIRILO

Les and Amber Cirilo have been married for 29 years and have raised two kids (Sarah 27 and Cole 23) in Owasso since moving here 19 years ago from Houston, TX. They have recently been blessed with their first grandbaby. Les has spent 30 years in the oil and gas industry as a geoscientist. His hobbies include exploring the outdoors and auto mechanics. Les has served in many areas of First Church over the past 18 years including leading a weekly men's Bible study called Ironworks for the past 12 years.

CHUCK WHEELER

Chuck and Debi Wheeler have been married for 44 years and have been members of First Church since 1997. Chuck has served as an elder since 2001. He co-teaches the Crossroads class with Dale Wallace on Sunday mornings. He has been involved in numerous ministries over the years including Worship, LOVE918, and Missions. He has be a part of multiple short term missions trips to Honduras and China. Chuck has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from OSU and has worked in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years. He is currently an Artificial Lift Systems Senior Technical Advisor for National Oilwell Varco, Inc. (N.O.V.) in Tulsa. Chuck and Debi live west of Claremore. They have three grown daughters, Kendra, Amy, and Kelsey, and two sons-in-law, Jake and Nathan. They are also blessed with three beautiful granddaughters, Evangeline, Lillian, and Julia.
