Unstoppable Grit

Before ascending into Heaven, Jesus told His disciples: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8, NIV84). The church is Jesus’ chosen instrument to take to the world what He accomplished on the cross. The earliest Christians understood what He was empowering them to do. They didn’t just have a mission; the mission had them. When their lives were threatened, they responded: “We cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20, NASB). First Church, this is our moment to join the unstoppable mission of Jesus. Let’s not waste the momentum that’s brought us to this point in history. Now isn’t the time for us to retreat but to show our culture the work and power of our Unstoppable God.
